So, So Bad.

Today was UNSW Writing, as Sec 4s will know. I think it was the most fun I've ever had writing a piece of prose, ever. No, it wasn't that I was deliberately not *taking* it seriously; it was that I was deliberately not *writing* it seriously. Let me give you a few choice excerpts:

The first paragraph:
"Aha!" cried the villain. "Do you mean THESE keys?" He paused for a few seconds in order to rummage around in one of his numerous coat pockets.
Trevor waited patiently.

Around the middle:
A single tear formed on the inner edge of Trevor's left eye, making a splash as it hit the cold, hard, teak-paneled floor. This was too much!

The last paragraph:
"NOOOOO!" erupted the word from the villain's mouth, but it was too late! Trevor had already pressed 4 on his speed dial!

It should be obvious that I was really trying to get the worst out of my essay there.
Huh.

Open For Business.

Exam results are only partially out, so I shall not discuss them now.

(No, this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I'm absolutely terrified by the prospect of SS and History and English and Lit. Honest.)

Therefore, I shall be doing something completely off-topic, and list down all the homework that needs to be done by next week. And it's only the bleedin' second day of school!

1. Lit Absurdist Presentation (The Visit)
2. English Book Club (Fascist Rock)
3. Chinese Book review. (Oh, whatever)

Hmph. That wasn't so difficult, was it?

Or IS it?

Toy Story 3.

First, I just want to say that this is my first perfectly rational blog post title in a loooooong time.

Just got back from watching Toy Story 3, and it was a great movie. Mind you, I've seen worse villains in live-action films. Thinking of a pink, strawberry-flavoured totalitarian fucking regime scares the crap out of me.

Although I wish that (WARNING SPOILER ALERT)

Woody could have stayed with Andy at the end, which would have (in my mind) would have made for a more poignant farewell scene, but I guess that would have not meshed up with the movie's Aesop. Huh. I do wish, however, that they could have focused more the theme of letting go of one's loved ones more, which was only touched on lightly, as compared to the other themes.

Oh, and the escape was cool as hell. Can't deny that, and it is very reminiscent of the plans that Woody made in the previous movies. I do wish they'd made a longer fight sequence between him and the monkey, though.

Hmmm. Now I have a sudden urge to go back and watch the original two movies again...

Ups And Downs.

Okay, first I want to state how pleased I was that I was proven wrong about my World Cup statements below. Argentina's 4-1 victory over Korea had over TRIPLE the goals of the then-average goals per game of 1.56(!). Hopefully this is a sign that things are turning for the better.

Not that the match was perfect, though, although I'm not talking about the game itself. It was the goddamn commentator. He already admitted that "These names tend to roll off the tongue," and he still continued to mangle the language in the most horrendous way possible. I mean, jeez, dude, it's Ma-scher-ah-noe, not Mah-scher-AAAH-NOOE. Ee-guain, not Ih-guai-NUH. It's Argentina, not Italy, dammit.

Say it with me, c'mon:
Ma-scher-ah-noe.
Ee-guain.

There, isn't that much more civilized?

Sand And Feet.

Okay, I'm back from Malaysia, which is a good and a bad thing. Good because, y'know, internet, but bad because I didn't subscribe to the World Cup. Darn.

Not that I'm missing much anyway. This has got to be the mos boring World Cup on record. I mean, c'mon, look at all the goals scored over the first matches of the past few nights. Name me one match with more than two goals.

Of course, the ongoing Portugal vs. Ivory Coast may change that, but it's, well, ongoing, so I can't really say anything about it. Still, hoping it breaks the trend.

Finished reading the Dune Trilogy (finally!) over these few days. Damn, it's symbolic as hell. The chapter quotes don't really help either, with all their religious symbolism. Still, it's not a bad thing. Giving me lots of idea, most of which are best left unsaid.

Commentaries.

As I write this, I am sitting on the second step of the Venture Chalet 2010 staircase, patiently explaining to Ming Lun how you can trade in a set of three Risk cards for seven troops, provided they are of different types. Go, Ming Lun! Lionel is at the far corner of the rectangular table to my left playing Counter-Strike, and Brandon is slightly to his right singing korean karaoke. Boon King has just asked me what I was doing, and facepalmed at the answer.

Before you ask, I have no idea whether this is a common occurrence, since this is only the first night (well, first morning, to be precise, but whatever), not counting the previous one last year, where we were spamming Halo 2 like 9-year old Korean kids on caffeine. So yeah, it doesn't really count.

Pretty much screwed for Metacognition, which is due on Friday, since of the lack of free time I've already mentioned. As for Yi Ming, likewise. Ah well. Nothing we can do about it here, I suppose.

Now to decide whether I should go to sleep or not. Hmph. I might do so inevitably, but there's no point in wasting a couple of good hours of playing cards , or alternatively DotA...

Return of the Kink.

Firstly: I make no apologies for the terrible movie pun up there. Any complaints that you want to make can be addressed to my now-defunct tagboard, which I may not or may not answer. Yes, you got that right.

Anyway; yes, Edmund is back from boarding, albeit belatedly. Past few days have not been very internet-connection-filled, either, what with Venture Camp and all (which I'll get to in a while).

My holiday schedule is up the wazoo, with the aforementioned Venture Camp from the 31st-2nd, CampoRama (is that you you spell it?) from the 4th-6th, Chalet from the 8th-10th, and my famliy vacation from the 12th-15th. And after that is the World Cup, and the due date for my English Portfolio. OH SHI-

Anyway, gotta dash to school to check on Hawk Patrol 9and my icebox), so I'll be back to talk about Boarding and VC later.

Catch y'all.
